Note: While the mission did not succeed in destroying the base permanently, it did make the site impossible to access for long enough that the NWO never used it again, and even mostly abandoned Sydney. Of course, as the quantum bombs of the Twenty Seconds War were bound to fly in only a few days, it was mostly moot, as the NWO did not exist anymore afterward. It’s been theorized many times that the failure of the NWO to get a handle on the technology, and the eventual destruction of the base was the result of benevolent time-traveling, but there is no real evidence of this.
