Note: Thirty years later, microscopic analysis revealed signs that the bones had been manufactured on Mars, leading some to believe that the story about the wealthy prankster was itself a prank while others believed that it meant the original, real bones had been stolen and replaced at some point. The truth may never be known, but all contemporary paleontologists and xenologists agree that the possibility that pre-historic life was transported from Earth to Mars is too remote to consider.
