Note: In Martian Law, “exotic animals” were any Terran species which were not dogs, cats, or chickens (the animals brought by the first colonists) and all such animals were illegal to keep. It was a constant battle to keep ferrets, snakes, and mice off the planet in particular, as they were very fashionable pets on across Sol System at the time.
