Note: Mars City was famous for its ‘Beltway’ network, a system of electric pedestrian paths that crisscrossed the city.  The Beltway extended out into the outer domes as well, and many smaller suburban domes, like Central Xanthe, had enough paths that no one really needed a car. Delivery trucks were still necessary, and emergency services would use vehicles for rapid response, and some enthusiasts would drive restored or replica autos for fun, but mostly vehicles were a curiosity, not a necessity. A deeper analysis would show that a network of trams or electric busses would have used less power than the Beltway, but the abundant geothermal energy on Mars made that mostly irrelevant.
