Note: Venusian cuisine at this time was similar to many cuisines that originated in rough frontier land: a mix of cooking styles from older cuisine traditions adapted to the food that was available in the new land. For Venus, this meant traditions mostly from Russia, Canada, and Luna applied to freeze-dried rations and shelf-stable spices. Bits of rehydrated foods, covered with various gravies, and seasoned mildly were very popular, and it was that style which was exported to other places as typically Venusian cuisine, along with the quintessential Venusian desert, ironically named “Mars Cake”: freeze-dried custard, partially rehydrated with vodka and topped with strawberry dust. These were typically called “Red Venus Cake” when served anywhere off Venus.
