Note: During this time of expansion, people often went to Mars for a simpler, but still civilized lifestyle. Earth was so crowded that there was little way to feel anything other than anonymous, Luna was still thought of mostly as a bastion for scientists and academics, the outer worlds were untamed frontier, and Venus was the only place in the system that felt truly ‘foreign’ to most people, owing to their generation of separation following the Conscription War and lack of proper integration into the Sol government. Thus many zones went up on Mars that tended to have low population density, and a ‘small-town’ feel that didn’t really exist anywhere else in the system. Of course, they were all eventually consumed by the expansion of Mars City, and before long, the habitable zones of Mars would have become just as crowded as Earth cities if it weren’t for the later Exodus.
