Note: The subsequent campaign of human rights violations, known to later historians as “the secret occupation” had a profound impact on Venusian culture, and even now, long after all people–and governments–involved in the events are dead, Venusians are typically cautious of the rest of Sol, and often weary of any political maneuvering. As a culture, they frequently take very long looks at any deals with outsiders, and immigration to their aerostats and spincities is strictly controlled in a way that no other place of Human habitation has been for many years. History conspired against the people of Venus, and they were only just barely saved.
